Our adventure to Seaham

Apologies for the delayed Blog Post, no excuses.
I spent a few days in Seaham over this past summer and used the time to slow down after seeing Oasis opening night in Wales and the British GP weekend to explore, and hunt for shoreline finds. Seaham Hall made the stay easy. The hotel sits above the water, so you wake up already feeling close to the coast.
The morning started with a bike ride into town. The route is simple and quiet. You get a clear view of the cliffs, the North Sea, and the stretches of beach that make this area special. The ride sets the pace for the day. You move at a steady speed and take in the details you miss when you drive.
The beaches in Seaham are full of history. The old Londonderry Bottleworks left behind glass that has spent more than a century tumbling in the sea. The result is what many people come here for. Smooth pieces in every colour sit along the shoreline. Some days you find a handful. Some days you fill a pocket. It becomes a quiet rhythm. Walk a few steps, scan the sand, move again.
I found more than I expected. Greens, whites, soft blues, and a few rare pieces that stopped me for a moment. Each piece reminds you how long the sea has been shaping this coast. You feel connected to the place in a steady, practical way. You are not chasing anything. You are observing. I did in fact hot the jackpot and found a white round LARGER piece, the kind you dream of finding there.
Town itself is small, with a working harbour and a straightforward layout. Not every shop is open, but that becomes part of the charm. You get a sense of local life without noise or rush. You can wander, grab a snack, and head back to the beach when you feel like it.
The days in Seaham felt balanced. Good sleep. Fresh air. Long walks. Reliable shoreline hunting. A clear mind. It is the kind of stop that fits anyone who loves the coast and enjoys the process of searching for small, meaningful finds.
If your travels bring you to the northeast of England, Seaham is worth the time. It delivers simple pleasures and plenty of treasures for anyone who enjoys beachcombing.
